What is a Cluster In Packet Tracer

In Cisco Packet Tracer, a cluster is basically a way to group multiple devices together into a single visual block so your workspace stays organized.

It does not change how the network functions. It’s purely for organization and readability.

🔹 What a Cluster Does

  • Groups routers, switches, PCs, etc. into one labeled box
  • Lets you collapse or expand the group
  • Makes large topologies easier to manage
  • Helps when building multi-site or enterprise simulations

Think of it like putting several devices inside a folder.

🔹 Example Use Case

If you’re building:

  • A branch office network
  • A data center
  • A classroom lab with repeated layouts

You could cluster each section so your main canvas isn’t messy.

🔹 How to Create a Cluster

  1. Select multiple devices (drag selection box).
  2. Navigate to top blue menu.
  3. Choose cloud icon with the plus symbol to Create the Cluster.
  4. You can also just, hit Shift + U as a keyboard shortcut.
  5. Name it.
  6. Collapse or expand as needed.
